Video Email

Do you send out a regular email newsletter? Do you announce new products and special offers to everyone on your email database? If so, you could easily make use of video to bring your emails to life. We're investigating technology that will allow you to play video within an email in your Outlook inbox (which is huge and amazing, and will totally revolutionize all internet marketing). As soon as we've got it working, we'll let you know about here.

In the meantime, we have a great solution for you, and it's one that Google tells us is surprisingly successful. Here's how it works:

  • 1. Get Pearldrop to make the video you want to send out to your clients
  • 2. Embed it into a page in your website.
  • 3. Create your html email, and take a thumbnail image of the video player to embed into it as an hotlinked image
  • 4. Set the hotlink to load the page on your site where the video lives (and is set to play automatically)
  • 5. Hey presto!
  • It's a fantastic way to drive visitors to your site. Pearldrop regularly uses video email like this to promote our own services, and Google Analytics tells us that usually 50% of recipients watch the video within 24 hours of the mailout. 75% watch it within 48hours, and, what's more, the average time spent on the video page is usually about three minutes longer than the video itself, which means people are sticking around to read the associated marketing messages. Also, 50% of visitors click through to the rest of the site, so we're getting some great exposure.

Below are links to two example video emails. The first video was used to promote a video email service provided by a company in St Albans. The second video is part of a series that is being sent to about 30,000 people, to encourage them to enrol in a course.
