Pearldrop's equipment

There's some amazing HD equipment out there at the moment, and, frankly, Pearldrop owns most of it! In particular, we use a Sony PMW-EX3 HD camera, which shoots at full 1080p. Both the BBC and the Discovery Channel list the Sony EX3 as their camera of choice for independent filmmakers, which means that a) its quality is amazing, and b) anything we shoot for you will look fantastic if it gets broadcast on television.

Here's a list of the equipment we use. (We're not expecting much of this to make sense to you, but it might be fun to see what we've got!)

  • Sony PMW-EX3 professional video camera (which we noticed recently was being used to shoot hit documentary "Pineapple Dance Studios".
  • Canon XHA1s professional video camera
  • Lowel Rifa eXchange 66 softlight (as used by everyone in broadcasting, especially the BBC)
  • Various Dadolights Arri lights (as used by pretty much every television and movie producer)
  • Rhode NG2 shotgun mic (broadcast-quality)
  • Sennheiser G2 radio mic (broadcast-quality)
  • And for editing, we use the Apple Mac-based Final Cut Pro, which is also used by many Hollywood movie studios. For example, "Cold Mountain" and "Benjamin Button" were both edited with Final Cut Pro.
